Gilad Brimer is a contemporary digital mixed media artist whose work explores identity, perception, and the evolving relationship between the human figure and the digital image. Blending photography, digital collage, painting, and graffiti-inspired mark-making, he constructs layered compositions that examine how individuals shape—and are shaped by—the images they project.

His practice moves fluidly between abstraction and representation, combining vibrant color, fragmented portraiture, typography, and street-inspired visual language. Through processes of repetition, distortion, and reconstruction, Brimer investigates themes of control, vulnerability, transformation, and memory, creating works that exist between physical and virtual realities.

In his debut solo exhibition, MIRRORS, Brimer presents a body of work centered on reflection—not as literal self-portraiture, but as a psychological space where identities fracture, multiply, and evolve. Faces and bodies emerge, disappear, and reassemble across layered surfaces, inviting viewers to question the boundaries between self-image and perception. Recurring motifs, including galloping horses, symbolize freedom, momentum, and the instinct to move forward even when the destination remains uncertain.

Drawing inspiration from graffiti, fashion photography, digital culture, and contemporary art, Brimer's visual language creates an energetic dialogue between fine art and urban aesthetics. While echoing the expressive immediacy of artists such as Jean-Michel Basquiat and Banksy, his work ultimately develops a distinct voice that is both emotionally charged and visually immersive.

Curatorial Text

In Gilad Brimer's debut solo exhibition, the artist presents a body of work exploring identity, control, and the deconstruction and reconstruction of the human image. The works move along the seam between graffiti aesthetics and the worlds of digital art, collage, processed photography, and painterly layering.

Faces and bodies appear across the works in shifting moments — drawing near and pulling away, holding on and letting go, pausing and moving forward. Out of this movement, images of tenderness, tension, and energy are woven. At the center of the exhibition stands the recurring image of galloping horses — a symbol of power, freedom, and forward drive, even when direction only reveals itself in motion.

The works reflect Brimer's complex relationship to mirrors and reflection; yet instead of direct self-image, other figures are reflected within them — utopian or broken, duplicated and taken apart. The artist exercises total control over the composition — a kind of control that isn't possible when facing one's own reflection in reality.

Brimer's distinctive visual language holds a compelling dialogue with central fields in contemporary art and culture — graffiti, street culture, and fashion photography — while drawing an implicit connection to artists such as Jean-Michel Basquiat and Banksy.
